July 2017- Mission Trip to Cotonou Benin
For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying you shall open your hand wide
It still stand out in my mind as one of the most passionate experience I have had. Driving through a pot-holed dirt road in a remote place which would be impassable to drive, but we arrived at the place which the children call home. No electricity, no running water, no adequate sanitation, but the unimaginable smile on these little one’s face and the warm welcome with songs and prayers that we received overwhelmed my soul, I could not help myself but cry.
Cotonou, a city of Benin west Africa is the place where God called me to minister, and “La Maison de la Joie” is the orphanage I had the privilege to visit. Originally from Africa myself but lived most of my adult life in Canada with my husband and my two children. My family and I have the privilege to enjoy a comfortable life in Canada, a secure job with many opportunities to strive and live a fulfill life, but my inner most being was not fulfilled until I face my destiny. Destiny is a point in our life journey where the reason we were born finally takes shape, our eyes are opened to our potential, and our ears are turned in to the whisper of our purpose. Destiny thrive when our wills align with what God has already established for us.
Sunday July 16 2017, was the day we visited the orphanage, with the generosity of my co-workers relatives, my church and even strangers I was able to collect lot of stuff such as clothing, blankets toothbrush soap backpack toys, and more which I took with me and distributed to orphaned children in Africa. I will never forget that day I can still picture it in my mind, but the most unforgettable experience is the excitement on the kids face when they received the little things that we often take for granted such as toothbrush, soccer ball you name it. My heart was broken and I have come to understand the purpose of my life, that is to serve others and to speak for those who can not speak for themselves, to help those who can not help themselves.
A quote from Dr Myles Munroe author, speaker and leadership consultant ”The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose”
We all have been called to accomplish something good on this plane earth; what is your purpose? what is your calling?

La maison de la Joie( the house of joy) is the name of the orphanage, created in 1997 in Benin west Africa, the orphanage welcome orphans and abandoned children, and it composed of 30 children in total, children age is between 4 and 15-year-old with 16 girls and 14 boys. The orphanage lacks sustainable support from the government; as a result the orphanage staff have to rely on the generosity of outside donors to fulfill the basic needs of orphaned children.
We all have the ability to do good and as a human being, we have been born with the sense of sharing something good with our surrounding. There is nothing that can be compared to the joy when you give and put a smile on vulnerable children’s face who can only hope to receive from your generosity. Please hear their voice, open your heart and donate. When you donate a gift you save life, save life today. You will be glad you did.
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in your power to do so. Proverbs 3:27
During our visit to the orphanage, we were able to feed thirty kids and staff with healthy food and the children were so grateful to have their basic needs met. By partnering with us you will feed a child for a month for only $25, provide quality healthcare for less than $50 and send a child to school for only $100 a month.
support us-change a life- give hope.
